A teenage girl, Samantha Hughes, lives with her uncle Emmett, a Vietnam War vet,while wondering why noone will tell her about her father, who died fighting in Vietnam.This novel, which takes place in the early 1980s, is about both teenage anxiety and the after-effects of war upon returning soldiers. The author includes many references to l980s pop culture as Samantha (Sam) seeks a meaningful life after high school.
