Essay Format Requirements:

    • Your essay should be a minimum of 5 paragraphs. (This includes the introduction and conclusion paragraphs)
    • Each body paragraph should include at least 2 quotes (one from The Crucible and one from the research you did on McCarthyism).
    • Your final draft must be typed, in 12pt Times New Roman font.
    • You must include a separate WORKS CITED page at the end of your essay, in which you must list all of the sources (including The Crucible) that you quoted or used in your essay. Use EasyBib to help you create your works cited page.

    • 1 inch margins on all sides of the paper.

    • You must have a writing conference with me during class at which time I will check over your rough draft and make comments and suggestions.  If I see the same mistakes again in your final draft, it will hurt your grade significantly.
    • You must turn in your handwritten rough draft with peer-edited comments along with your final draft.  If you do not have it, you will lose 1/2 a letter grade.  (Your essay MUST show evidence of revision and editing in order to avoid being docked 1/2 a letter grade!!  That means, you should make significant changes to your essay between your rough draft and your final draft).
