In October 1998, a whirlwind of reality hit the small town of Laramie, Wyoming. Matthew Shepard, a student at the University of Wyoming, was tragically beaten and left to die because he was gay. Shepard’s death became a national symbol of intolerance, but for the people of Laramie the event became personal and it’s their voices we hear in this stunningly effective theater piece
The Fremont High School Drama Department presentation of The Laramie Project was held on March 16 – 18, 2006 under the able direction of Michaela Costes, a student. Michaela remarked, “The Laramie Project is in keeping with our production theme this year of recognizing prejudice and promoting tolerance. It is a story we feel is both important and relevant.” |
