Give Blood for Life

Fremont High School has successfully completed another blood drive for the Stanford Blood Center. On November 19, 160 students signed up and 140 brave souls arrived for the blood drive. The 8 am – 2 pm event was organized by the ASB Leadership classes under the direction of Jazmin Perez and Ashley Novosad, students.

About a dozen qualified students chose to be a part of a more intense blood donation technology, referred to as the ‘automated blood collection’ system. The state-of-the-art technology uses cell separators that allow for the division of the various blood components (red blood cells, platelets and plasma) in a high-speed centrifugal field while the device is still connected to the donor. This process results in the equivalent of two donations of red cells at one sitting.

Fremont is proud of the students who give back to the community in this way!
