Greg Hooper (1979)

Biography

Hooper was the last in a string of great Indian tailbacks in the 1970’s. Hooper’s dominating 1978 season was only the second time a Fremont back cracked the 1,000-yard milestone. In a nine game campaign, Hooper rushed for 1,100 yards and scored 9 touchdowns. An outstanding athlete, and student as well, Hooper earned a scholarship to Stanford University. While a fullback at Stanford, Hooper played in the same backfield with such Stanford greats as Darrin Nelson and John Elway. Like Armer and Harper, Hooper also earned All-CCS honors in 1978 as running back (as did offensive tackle Greg Reiley).
